Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Stella Louise Ashley, 60, passed away Aug. 17, 2008 at home in Wasilla from cancer.
Born Oct. 9, 1947 to Amos and Thelma Jean Youngblood, she began her residency in Wasilla around 1980, also living in Sheep Mountain and Eagle River. She worked for Tesoro before retiring prior to 2004. She was a member of the Knik-Goose Bay Chapter of the Lions, and enjoyed beadwork and snowmachine riding. She battled cancer for four years and led life to the fullest, her family said.
She is survived by sons Robert Ashley of Washington, Randy Ashley of Salem, Ore., and Billy Joe Ashley of Anchorage; brother Donnie Youngblood of Washington; and many grandchildren.
Her ashes will be scattered upon Seven Mile Lake in Knik.
