Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Stephen David Buehner, 68, of Wasilla, passed away April 2, 2015, at his home.
Stephen was born Sept. 4, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Leland P. and Darlene M. (Averill) Buehner. Stephen served our country for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and retired in Alaska in 1984. He continued his career with the Mat- Su Borough School District in 1985, retiring in 1999. Devoted to his faith, Stephen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Aileen Buehner, of Wasilla; daughter, Christiana Buehner, of Wasilla; sons, Joseph (and Jodi) Buehner of Vancouver, Wash., Joshua (and Michelle) Buehner, of Palmer, James (and Jennifer) Buehner, of San Antonio, Texas, Justin Buehner, of Wasilla, and Andrew Buehner, of Wasilla; mother, Darlene Buehner, of Waterloo, Iowa; brother, James (and Catherine) Buehner of Cedar Falls, Iowa; sister, Michelle Buehner, of Oelwein, Iowa; and six grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leland Paul Buehner.
Memorial Services are at 11 a.m., April 10, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1201 E. Bogard Road, Wasilla, with Father Scott Garrett officiating. Inurnment will follow, with full military honors, at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
