Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Steve was born in Dallas Oregon on October 1, 1950, and lived in Estacada and Portland Oregon. He was the second child out of 4 sisters, 1 brother, 5 half siblings, 4 boys, 1 girl.
He served in the Army, March 2, 1971, to February 22, 1973, in Germany with an honorable discharge as a SP4. His duties were an Engineer Equipment Mechanic, Sharpshooter M16. He received a defense service medal. He returned to Oregon in 1973, worked for Foundry Steel before moving to Alaska with his wife Corrine. He worked for Designs & Woods, Michaelson and Daughters Expediter, Nyack Gold Mine as a truck driver and Tug Bar as a Bartender.
He was married to Corrine Ramsey for 40 years. He loved fishing, hunting and being outdoors keeping the bonfires going. He played soft tip and steel tip out of Tug Bar for several years. Loved family gatherings because he knew there would be a Cherry Pie waiting for him and being around family.
He was a great man with a big heart and great personality who will be missed by all he associated with.
Steven is survived by his wife Corrine Ramsey; 1 son, 2 stepsons along with 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Celebration of Life will be April 22, at Amvets Post 9 downstairs located at 1591 Crest Foris St, Wasilla AK, 99654. Service will be 1 to 3 with a color guard ceremony at 2:00. We will have some food, however if you would like to bring a side dish, they are welcome.
