Steven Glen Rasmussen passed away peacefully in his home in Wasilla, Alaska on December 5, 2021, after a lengthy hospital stay. He was born on July 23, 1957, in Flint, Michigan, to his parents, Glen and Joyce Rasmussen.
Steve attended Findlay College in Ohio, graduating at the top of his class in Computer Engineering. Steve then went on to a successful career in software engineering. A talented engineer, he had a special gift for taking on the impossible and making it possible. His first job took him to California where he worked until taking a management position at Novell in Utah where he met the love of his life and married on July 26, 2003. He loved the outdoors and often said he felt closest to God in this setting.
Steve is survived by his wife, Linda Rasmussen of Wasilla, Alaska; children, Kara, Daniel, Justin, and Samantha Rasmussen, all of Wasilla, Alaska; Chelsey Seely of Ephraim, Utah; Devin (Bonnie) Folkner of Ft. Green, Utah; mother, Joyce Rasmussen of Morganton, North Carolina; sister, Carol (Frank) Wirkus of Sedona, Arizona; and brothers, Paul (Betsy) Rasmussen of Morganton, North Carolina; Neil (Barb) Rasmussen of Grand Marais, Minnesota; and David Rasmussen of Morganton, North Carolina, and children he took in as his own, Ammie Peterson of St. George, Utah, Wendi Olsen of Washington, Utah, and Christian J (Mindy) Carter of Washington, Utah; nephews, great nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Glen Russell Rasmussen, and all of his grandparents.
A service for Steve will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, at 821 East Dellwood St in Wasilla at 2pm on December 11, 2021. Zoom is available for those unable to attend in person. (See Legacy Funeral Home for full obituary).
