Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Steven “Steve” Charles Hoff, 64, died March 29, 2008, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center from pneumonia. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. May 23 at Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla.
Hoff was born Feb. 20, 1944, in Moline, Ill. He was a 1962 graduate of West High School in Davenport, Iowa, and graduated from Scott County Community College in Davenport in 1965. He retired in 1996 from L-3 Communications as a sales/marketing manager out of Sarasota, Fla. In 1997 until June 1, 2004, he operated Hoff and Co. Computers in Sarasota, Fla.
Hoff enjoyed being a ham radio operator, cooking, exploring in his RV and riding his Argo. According to his family, “Steve enjoyed cooking for anybody and everybody. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling in his fifth-wheel. He spoiled his granddaughters along with his nephews and nieces. He especially spoiled his dog, Taffy, cat, Chloe and his bird, Miss Priss. He is missed by his family and best friends, Taffy, Chloe and Miss Priss.”
Hoff is survived by his wife of 20 years, Cora Hoff of Big Lake; daughter, Amy (Chris) Goertz of Pflugerville, Texas; step-daughter, Tonya (Bob) Reif of Wasilla; parents, Chuck and Mary Hoff of Bettendorf, Iowa; brother, Rick (Teresa) Hoff of Golden, Colo.; sister, Laurie (Joe) Dobesh of Davenport; sister, Kristin Trom of Orange County, Calif.; and granddaughters, Heather and Tiffany Johnston, Courtney Pelphrey and Kelsey Lucas, all of Wasilla.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to Big Lake Fire and EMS, 3047 South Big Lake Road, Big Lake, AK 99652.
