Steven Luverne Knutson passed away in the comfort of his home on Jan. 4, 2018. He was 62. Steve was born to Bobbi and Luverne Knutson on Dec. 29, 1955. He spent his early years in Minnesota, moving to Alaska in 1964. The family settled in the Hatcher Pass area. Steve married his sweetheart, Lynne (Alzheimer) in 1975. Together they raised 4 children. Steve was an avid outdoorsman spending his youth and adulthood exploring and hunting the mountains of Hatcher Pass. He found his niche as a Master Mechanic, spending 10 years on the North Slope working for Cold Weather Contractors. When he’d had enough of slope work Steve and his brother, Eric, built Hatcher Pass Automotive twisting wrenches closer to home. One of his proudest accomplishments was building a boat with his brother to fish the Alaskan ocean. Fishing brought him great joy.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Lynne, sons, Randy (Stacy Carmichael) Knutson, Leif (Tiffany) Knutson, Adam (Megan Mercer) Knutson and daughter Tara Knutson, grandchildren Jacob, Joshua, Sienna, Sarissa, Adara and great-grandson Kian, mother Bobbi Knutson, sisters Karen (Joe) DuPont, Jana (Lin) Turner and brother Eric (Kristin) Knutson along with a niece and several nephews, and an extended family back in Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his father, Luverne Knutson. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor, in the spring, at his home. Details to come.
