Super good on Super Sunday

Well, so much for “fearless predictions.” Seems I need to spritz a little Windex on my crystal ball, as New England did not beat the Giants by 20 points as I said here Sunday morning. What a great game, though.

And I’m happy to report the Super Bowl snacking plan was right on target. The pizza was good. Although mom suggested whole-grain tortillas as the crust, I couldn’t find any. Instead, I used a whole-wheat pita split in half to make two little pizzas. I also couldn’t find fat-free cheese, but did find a low-fat brand and used sparingly. Overall, it worked out pretty darn well.

I didn’t even have trouble watching those Super Bowl ads for Doritos and Pepsi.

A little off the subject, the game was great, one of the best Super Bowls ever, and so were the advertisements, for the most part. Something I also noticed was with some of the food ads a more healthy trend. My favorite was the Vitamin Water ad that put Shaquille O’Neal on a racehorse as a jockey. Just cracked me up to see his 7-foot-2, 300-pound frame on that horse.

The talking baby was also pretty well done, but I have to admit (and it’s just a personal bugaboo of mine) I find it a little creepy when computers have babies doing things they normally can’t, like dancing and talking. Don’t know why.

A big kudos to whoever put the bowl of rice crackers out on the Frontiersman Snack-O-Matic (you can read about the Snack-O-Matic in a previous blog). It was a thoughtful gesture to those in the building who are trying (Kari more successfully, myself so-so) to be good.

Of course, as soon as I notice this the evil potato chip bag makes another appearance today. Grrr. Still didn’t take any, but I’m like a lot of Americans in my belief that if I’m suffering, all must suffer.

OK, off to shoot a few hoops. Later, Winners!
