Wasilla resident Susan Elizabeth Rhyne Cooney, 52, passed away suddenly at home in Wasilla on July 16, 2014.
A celebration of life is planned from 1 to 5 p.m., on July 21 at Valley Funeral Home, 151 E. Herning Ave., Wasilla.
Susan was born on March 15, 1962, in Charlotte, North Carolina, and moved to Wasilla in November 2011. Susan worked for Mat-Su Regional Solstice Family Practice where everybody loved her greatly. Her joys of life were family, friends, and fishing.
Susan was loved by all. Her sense of humor made everyone smile. She was dedicated to her family, friends, and work. She welcomed family and visitors to her home. She would always say “She was funny first.” She loved her time in Alaska, and had lots of wonderful Alaskan experiences.
Surviving are her husband, John, and son, Zachary Cooney, of Wasilla; parents, Jack and Sue Rhyne of Forest City, North Carolina; brother, John and wife Kathy Rhyne of Belmont, North Carolina.
Preceding her in death by her brother, Robin, and his wife, Kimberly, and their son, Hunter; and her grandparents.
Arrangements were cared for by Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel.
