January 22, 2024, Susan “Suzi” Lee Michaelson, 74, of Wasilla, AK, passed away peacefully at home with her family lovingly by her side.
Suzi was born on October 12, 1949, to Ida and Dudley Hansen in Portland, OR. She was the eldest of three children and is remembered by her sisters Joy and Sandy, as a kind and loving older sister. In 1982 Suzi left her home of Portland seeking adventure in Alaska. She packed her red pickup truck and journeyed north confidently navigating the Alcan Highway alone.
After settling in Wasilla, Suzi met Clarence Michaelson and the two married on November 16, 1991. Suzi worked as a hairstylist in Wasilla for over 30 years. Her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit lead her to owning her own business, Classic Haircuts. Outside of work Suzi enjoyed tending to her greenhouse, crafting, and home improvement projects. Although deeply rooted in Alaska, the Oregon coast always held a special place in Suzi’s heart.
Suzi was a loving Wife, Stepmother, Grandmother, Great grandmother, Sister, Aunt and loyal friend. She made an impact on many lives and will be forever missed.
Services will be held At VFW Post 9365, 301 E Lake View Ave., on February 25th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal rescue or the Veterans Auxiliary, organizations Suzi felt strongly about.
