Lifelong Alaskan, Suzan Louise Barry Hartley, passed away May 12, 2021, from a stroke.
Suzan was born January 19,1954, in Palmer, Alaska, to Earl and Elizabeth Barry. The second of five children, she graduated from Palmer High School in 1972 and then obtained her hairdresser certification. She began a successful career that spanned forty-seven years, retiring in 2020. In retirement she pursued her love of cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, and homemaking, all of which she excelled.
Suzan loved her family and was fiercely loyal. She had a huge heart and gave unconditionally to friends and family alike. She understood the power of forgiveness and practiced it often. She found the positive in all situations and believed that there is a reason for all that happens.
Suzan is survived by her husband of thirty-one years, Jim Hartley; her son, Adam Rutherford; stepson, Alan Hartley; stepdaughter, Kristina Webb; grandchildren, Sterling and Dalton Rutherford; stepgrandchildren, Mackenzie and Ellie Webb; brother, Jim Barry; sisters, Anne Ellis, Mary McCarver and Helen Barry; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
