SYBLE SUSANNE TELLIER

Syble Susanne Tellier, 75, died Aug. 2, 2010, at her home in Wasilla.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A viewing will be held one hour prior to service. The Rev. William Fournier will officiate. Interment will follow at the Wasilla-Aurora Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. A gathering will be held at the church after the graveside service.

Syble was married to Bacel Tellier Jr. in September 1951, in Grand Lakes, Colo.

In 1960, along with their five small children and with Syble eight months pregnant with twins, they left Colorado. They were both driving fully loaded trucks up the Alaska Highway to pursue a dream of owning their own piece of the Last Frontier.

Syble and Bacel filed on one of the last federal homesteads available at the end of Schrock Road just north of the Little Susitna River. This is where they raised their nine children together.

Syble always had a warm, welcome smile for everyone, her family wrote. She was a wonderful wife, a good mother and a super grandmother. Syble welcomed everyone into her home as though they were family or longtime friends. She enjoyed cooking, baking and canning. Syble’s hobbies included sewing, crocheting, gardening and growing her flowers. As a mother and grandmother, she passed down many of these talents down to her children and grandchildren.

She had a loving heart, friendly personality and a strong sense of humor, her family added. Syble was a member of Pioneers of Alaska and a longtime member of Sacred Heart Parish. She volunteered for many different things, such as prayer groups, prayer chains and senior services. She will be missed by all of those left behind.

Syble is survived by children and their spouses, Elmo and Charlene Bell of Wasilla, David and Rosemary Lefever, Susie Osborne of Wasilla, Stephen Dunphy Sr. of Wasilla, Rich and Phyllis Owens of Milton Freewater, Ore., Theresa Evan of Wichita, Kan., Delina Ann Maloch of Chehalis, Wash., Bacel and Jo Tellier III of Colorado and Dale Evan Sr. of Anchorage; grandchildren, Adam Tellier, Ashley Bell, Alonzo Tellier, Brady and Brad Washburn, Stephen Dunphy Jr., Dale Evan Jr., Melissa Evan, Rachell and Jake Faber, Savanna and Keyonna Ownes, Jenelle and Shawn Osborne, Shawna and Brad Tidwell, Shannon Johnson and MaryAnn Garcia; and great-grandchildren, Brenton and Liberty Faber, Dalton Owens, Caleb Tidwell, Alonzo Tellier Jr., Elizabeth, Araiana, Nora Day, William and Sid.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Bacel Tellier Jr.; son, Sam Tellier; daughter, Catherine Dunphy; grandson, Rusty Tellier; and son-in-law, William Maloch.
