Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Lifelong Alaska resident, Miss Tammy Jean Morris, 39, died in Anchorage on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010.
A celebration of Tammy’s life is Oct. 23, 2010, at the Anchorage Funeral Home at 1800 Dare Avenue (Old Seward and Dare Ave.) The Rev. Tamara Letts of the Trinity Presbyterian Church will officiate. Tammy’s ashes will be presented to her daughter Krista. As Krista matures she will later determine the final disposition of Tammy’s ashes.
Tammy was born June 22, 1971, in Anchorage. Tammy worked on and off for many years as a waitress in Anchorage and Wasilla.
“Tammy was a person who was warm, caring and loved people. She would care for others long before herself. The high point in her life was five years ago, Sept. 24, 2005, when she gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Krista Angelica. Those who knew Tammy, knew she had bumps in her life that were always a trial until God took her home,” wrote the family.
Tammy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Grace Imel. She is survived by her father, Albert G.E. Morris of Soldotna; mother and stepfather, Donna & Donald Deschaine of Bluffton, Ind.; brother, Karl Morris and his wife Eleana and their children, Karlene and Richard Morris all of Anchorage; brother, Steven Morris and his wife Nickki and their daughter, Kaitlin Morris all of Anchorage; sister, Jennifer Morris of Anchorage; daughter, Krista A. Deschaine of Bluffton, Ind. and her father, Steve Lythgoe of Anchorage; cousins, JoAnn Bantz and her husband Tim Connelly, Francine and her husband Frank Rutter and Desiree Burgess all of Anchorage, and Janet and her husband John Jones of Ill.; special friends, Margaret Andersen and her family of Wasilla; step-brother, Brendan Deschaine of Anchorage; step-sisters, Christina Peters from Montana, Tamara and Lindsey Deschaine both of Anchorage.
