Tammy Lenore Brown, 55, resident of Wasilla, was called upon by the Lord to walk by his side May 1, 2014.

Tammy was born in St. Louis, Missouri, but became a lifelong Alaskan at the age of 7.

She loved spending time with her husband, Tim Thompson, and her children, Dana Richards and Jason Brown, and being Nana to her grandchildren, Brendan and Dakota Rood. She also loved her many talks with her granddaughter, Nevaeh Brown.

“She leaves with us many memories of good food, exciting stories of fishing and camping trips, and endless hours of conversation about anything,” her family wrote. Some of Tammy’s greatest achievements in life included being awarded Ms. Teen Alaska in 1975, living a lifetime of adventures with the man she loved with all her heart, raising two children into adulthood, being a strong mentor for her grandsons, Brendan and Dakota, and showing the world what being a strong woman means.

Preceding her in death were her parents, LeRoy Brown and Betty Jean Pena; a brother, Ricky LeRoy Brown; and a son, David Brown.

Surviving are her husband, Tim Thompson, Wasilla; daughter, Dana Richards, of Wasilla; son, Jason Brown, of Wasilla; her dogs, Mister, (who will be sleeping on her shoes) and Missy; three brothers and one sister; numerous nieces; one nephew; three grandsons; two granddaughters; and many other loved ones.

Although this will be read through many tears, at Tammy’s request there will be no services.

The family asks that as a memorial, friends and family display a white ribbon on Mother’s Day, in memory of Tammy and all the other mothers who are in Heaven.
