Taryn Jean Howell, 36, of Big Lake, Alaska sadly passed away on July 16, 2022, while staying at Mat-Su Regional Hospital in Palmer, Alaska. Taryn was born May 27, 1986, in Anchorage, AK to Elizabeth Okpealuk and Robert Nelson. Taryn graduated from Houston High School in June of 2005. Soon after, she married Chad Howell in November of 2008 in Gwinn, MI.
Taryn worked as a PCA at Colony Manor Assisted Living Homes as she always loved helping people. She was a devoted mother to Brayden and stepmother to Coby and Emmalee. Her hobbies include beading, gardening, four-wheeling, fishing, and camping with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Chad, her children, Brayden(s), Coby(s) and Jessica Denny, Emmalee(d) and Baltazar Calvillo, grandchild, Baltazar Kai, her sisters Stephanie Okpealuk (Anchorage), Kris-Tina Dunphy (Wasilla), and Terri Denmark (Florida), her brothers Michael Okpealuk (Big Lake), Frank Miller 4 (Teller), Richard Nelson (Florida), and Robert “Bobby” Nelson (Anchorage), and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Okpealuk, her father, Robert Nelson, and her sister, Sherri Nelson.
Taryn will always be remembered for her loving and caring personality that she showed to each one of us. She helped everyone in any way that she could and had a beautiful smile that could light up the room. Taryn will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
