Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Alaska resident Teresa Mason, 61, passed away on Oct. 25, 2015, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at the Church on the Rock, 3571 W Machen Rd., Wasilla, Alaska, 99654. Officiating the service will be Pastor Gary Oathout.
Teresa was born on May 11, 1954, in Manistique, Michigan. On September 11, 1976, Teresa and Jim were married in Manistique. The couple moved to Alaska January 1978, when Jim was stationed at Ft. Richardson, after spending three years in West Germany with the U.S. Army Europe. Tee and Jim enjoyed Europe, jumping on trains, boats, discovering different countries, and historical places. They spent many seasons fishing, hunting, flying, boating, snowmobiling in the backcountry of Alaska, and especially sharing it with family and friends, whether it was out-of-town guests or family.
Tee and Jim spent countless weekends building and enjoying their remote log home west of Willow. Tee was as tough as it comes, hiking in the Artcic, moose hunting in the Talkeetna Mountains, or snowmobiling in the Alaska Range.
Tee and Jim was lifelong partners of 41 years. They just celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary in September.
Tee will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Jim, and their family and friends.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Jim Mason; mother, Mille Lakosky; sisters, Katherine and husband Roger Shelly, Diane and husband David Toms, Joanne and husband Jim McDonald, Barbara and husband Chuck Markiewicz; brother, John and wife Kellie (King) Lakosky; many nieces and nephews, Raymond Mason, Bonnie and Wilfred Lacker, Arlin Mason, Sharon and Gary Kingsbury, Tom and Cheri Mason, Julie and Chris Reynolds, Karen and Howard Peoples, Carol, and Don Stevenson, and many nieces and nephews and their children.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Lloyd Lakosky; mother and father-in-law, Tyler and Gladys Mason; sisters-in-law, Esther and Margie Mason; and brother-in-law, Floyd Mason.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
Arrangements were under the direction of Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel.
