Theresa Kay Meier “Terri” passed away on March 23 unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep, at home, next to her best friend and soulmate, Steve.Terri was born in Tucson, Arizona in July 1952. As a young girl, she spent hours riding horses with friends, including her dear friend, Crystal. Terri and Crystal remained friends throughout their lives and in the past four years, along with Steve, Crystal and Terri spent hours exploring the desert in Arizona, admiring wildlife and plants. Last year, Crystal made the trip to Alaska where Terri and Steve got to show her their wondrous home state. At the age of 19, Terri moved to Alaska for adventure. She said she wanted to see “Eskimos and igloos.” On her first day in Alaska, Terri met the man of her dreams, Steve. What many people may not know, is that when Steve saw Terri he said it was love at first sight. For the next 46 years they hardly left each other’s sides. In 1977 Steve and Terri made their home in Palmer where they raised two children of their own, as well as many other kids who found love, safety, humor, and refuge in the Meier’s home. Steve and Terri spent many years together exploring Alaska and Canada as independent owner-operators of a trucking company, Meier Trucking. They were happiest together. Terri’s greatest joy in life came when her two grandsons were born, Steven and Maxwell Meier. Terri is known as the most genuinely kind, loving, wise, honest, giving, friend you’ve ever had. She loved deeply and honestly. Never one to take, Terri always preferred to give. She never wanted anyone to go without, feel unwelcomed, or unloved. Terri never considered serving others as a chore or task, she was unselfish and steadfast in her service and care of others. Everyone who met Terri went away feeling special, cherished, unique, and understood. Scores of people would say that she was their second mom, most trusted confidant and advisor, and party-buddy. A potluck Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks Lodge on Finger Lake in Palmer on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
