Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Thomas Theodore Clements entered into eternal retirement to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 77 in Palmer, AK on October 31st, 2024. Tom was born in Earlham, Iowa on November 19th, 1946 to Oran George Clements Sr and Lula Devilbiss Clements. He was number 12 of 13 children. Tom served his country in the US Army in Vietnam from 1966-1970. Tom was Bible believing Christian, and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Palmer since 1984. Tom worked as a diesel mechanic for Kenworth Northwest in Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska for 28 years, then moved into self-employment until the time of his death. He married Shirley Hoskins on July 28th, 1970. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hoskins Clements, and the Lord blessed them with 54 years of marriage; sons Thomas Anthony and George Scott Clements; daughter and son in law Jennifer Louise Lamm and Payton Lamm; grandchildren Karianne DeVilbiss and Joseph DeVilbiss; brother Fred Clements; sisters LaVonne Morgan, Nellie Bindel, Ruth Sexton, Sarah Barber, and Beverly Towry; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Oran George Clements Sr and Lula Pauline Clements; sisters Mary Golightly, Edith Koch, Elsie Webster, and Dorothy Ellis; brothers Oran George Clements Jr and James Clements. Private burial with military honors took place on November 23rd, 2024 @ Palmer Pioneer Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Scott Clements, Payton W. Lamm, William Adams, Rex Dashnaw, and Joe Oliver. Arrangements were entrusted with Legacy Funeral Home Mat-Su. A Celebration of Life service will be held on January 4th, 2025 @ Immanuel Baptist Church 7540 E Cottrell-Campus Dr. Palmer, AK 99645 @ 2 p.m. There will be a potluck after the service at the church, please bring a dish to share.
