Longtime Wasilla resident Thomas W. Streb, 62, died Feb. 18, 2013, at his home surrounded by family and loved ones.
Post Chaplain Forrest E. Powell III will officiate at a celebration of life at noon, March 2 at the VFW Post 9365, 301 E. Lakeview Ave., Wasilla.
Tom was born April 16, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Penn. He was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran and served his country in Vietnam. He had a giving heart and often took strangers into his home, supported children overseas and also provided families in need with meals and gifts during the holidays. Tom enjoyed being outdoors and loved telling stories around the bonfire at his homestead in Talkeetna. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Survivors include his mother, Earleen Weitzel; siblings, Paul Bendle and Julie Bendle; children, Cherie, Tommy, Ginger, Scott, Ivy, Garrett and Anastasia; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 666517.
