Timothy Brien Daily, 60, died April 26, 2008, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage. Funeral service and viewing will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the Wasilla Chapel of Valley Funeral Home and Crematory, 151 E. Herning Ave.
Daily was born Oct. 27, 1947 at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., where he attended Hollywood High School before coming to Whittier in 1988. He worked as a cook and in the fishing industry until 1997 when he moved to Big Lake, where he worked as a cook and logger until his retirement in 2006 due to poor health.
He attended many churches throughout his life and was of the Christian faith. He received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Big Lake Lions Club, and enjoyed camping and fishing.
“Tim was generous to a fault,” his family wrote. “If you needed help dealing with nearly any sort of task, then Tim was your man. He loved the outdoors and would spend as much time as possible there. When poor health did not permit him as much mobility, he would have friends drive him around. And cook! Ask anyone that has had one of his home-cooked meals, or meals that were served to restaurant patrons at any one of a dozen or more eateries in Southcentral Alaska.”
He is survived by sisters Patti Troy of Venice, Calif., and Middy Oswald of Big Sur, Calif.; and brothers Pete Daily of Anchor Point and Dennis Daily of the Philippines. He is preceded in death by his wife, Paula, in September of 2006, and parents Faye Leone O’Brien-Daily and Pete Daily.
Memorial donations may be made to the T.B. Daily Memorial Fund at P.O. Box 521596, Big Lake, AK 99652.
Daily’s cremains will be interred in Venice, Calif.
