Wasilla resident Tony Fairchild, 61, passed away July 16, 2013.
Tony was raised in Buhl, Idaho. He began driving truck when he was 14. It was a career he loved.
He married his soul mate, Janet Major, in 1977, and in 1982 they moved to Alaska with their three wonderful boys. Tony spent the next 17 years driving the Alaska “haul road” from Fairbanks to the Prudhoe Bay oil fields. He called it the ultimate driving experience.
Later in life Tony came to know and love the Lord, and through many medical issues during the last 16 years of his life he learned to maintain a joyful outlook on just about everything. One of his favorite sayings was, “Praise the Lord in all things.”
Tony is survived by his wife, Janet; his sons, Andrew (Joanna) and Caleb (Jenn); his daughter-in-law, Lea; his mother, Sarah; his uncle, Max; his brothers, Arnold Jr. (Sharon), Rick, Kenny and Martin (Julie); his sisters, Sondra, Rosalie, Josie (Jere) and Faustina (Vachary); his 12 grandchildren; his many cousins; his wonderful church family; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold; and his son, Adam.
A memorial service is at 2 p.m., July 21 at the Wasilla Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
