Lifelong Palmer resident Tracy A. Hamann, 45, died in his sleep March 13, 2011.

Born June 28, 1965, to Dennis and Delores Hamann, he spent his life living in Palmer and doing what he loved — hunting , fishing, riding his Harley and spending time with his family and friends, of which he had more of than anyone his family knows.

Born into a Colonist family and living in Palmer, Tracy literally seemed to know everyone and was proud to call most his friend. Tracy spent his time on earth living life to its fullest and was always willing to help out a friend any way he could. He worked for years on the North Slope, where everyone knew him as “Chewie,” the 6-foot-7 guy with a heart of gold.

He is survived by his son, Eric of Palmer; his parents, Dennis and Delores Hamann of Palmer; sister, Janet and husband Rod Matson of Kenai; brother, Scott and wife Cheryl of Kenai; brother, Denny and wife Lori of Wasilla; adopted brother, “Big Jeff” Hubbard of Port Townsend, Wash.; and more aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews than can be listed here.

Services will be held at the Palmer Moose Lodge at 2 p.m., March 19, directly followed by a celebration of life potluck at the Palmer Bar.
