Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Turner “Buxton” Waugh, age 56, of Seward: Buxton was born on Sept. 16, 1960 in Oklahoma and he passed away on Nov. 25, 2016.
He spent much of his childhood in Cuernavaca, Mexico. After graduating, he served on several ships for the Merchant Marines, including the SS Poet, which disappeared into the Atlantic Ocean immediately after he retired. Buxton moved to Alaska with his family in 1988 and enjoyed a career as a flight instructor for several years. He was highly intelligent, loved the lord, and enjoyed helping people in need. Buxton was also an artist and he successfully ran a graphic art and sign business, Rhobux, with his wife Rhonda in Wasilla for several years; some of his work continues to be displayed in the area.
Buxton will join his parents who are already deceased and those left to grieve for him include the love of his life; Rhonda Waugh, three grown children; Desiree Compton, Sarah Korthuis, and Elisha Waugh, and two siblings; Blaine Waugh and Anna Derrow. He also leaves behind three step-daughters, a niece, a nephew, and five grandchildren. A memorial will be held on Dec. 10, 2016 at Anchorage Funeral Home at 2 p.m.
