Tyler Boyd Huffman, 27 years old, of Palmer, Alaska, passed away from natural causes in Springfield, Virginia on March 24, 2022.
Boyd, as he was known by most people, was born on December 8, 1994, to Frank and Sonja Huffman in Palmer, Alaska. In 2013, Boyd graduated from Colony High School, Palmer, Alaska with honors. He also took computer science courses at the Mat-Su Career and Technical High School.
Boyd started his computer networking career with Integrated Logic in Palmer, Alaska, a subcontractor of GCI. He started as a Network Technician working his way up to a Network Administrator 1 working directly for GCI Managed Broadband Services Operations Team in 2015-2016. By 2017 he had become an Engineer 1 with GCI. He eventually transitioned toward remote work with GCI, which allowed him the freedom to travel and live in various states. His final position was for VAE Incorporated where he obtained and maintained a top-secret security clearance. At VAE, he worked in a senior position as a software defined wide area network engineer, which in application is a relatively new technology. Given his success as a senior network engineer, he had aspirations to start a company of his own with a longtime friend in 2025. He had an amazing career and future ahead of him.
Boyd was a beloved son, brother and friend. He enjoyed life and lived his life to the fullest. He loved to travel and took many trips with his friends and as an adult he lived in a number of different states. He was born and raised in Palmer, Alaska and enjoyed winter sports especially snowboarding. He played a wide variety of sports growing up including Varsity basketball for Colony High School. He spent countless hours outside with his animals, notably his 4-H pigs, which he loved and cared for immaculately. He was a very kind, considerate, and compassionate person. Words cannot express how much he was loved and will be missed.
Boyd was predeceased by grandparents, Ann and Boyd Huffman. He is survived by his Father, Frank Huffman; Mother, Sonja Huffman; sisters, Jennifer Vaden (Charles Gilliland) and Rachael Huffman; Grandparents, Roy and B.J. Goodrow; Uncles, Michael Huffman, Cody Goodrow, and Clayton Goodrow; Aunts, Margaret Schmidt and Susan Yoder; his cousins and countless friends and lives Boyd has touched throughout his life.
Services will be held at Saint Michaels Catholic Church 432 E. Fireweed Ave, Palmer, Alaska, on May 1, 2022, at 2 p.m. Any and all friends of Boyd who wish to attend the service are invited. This is not a closed service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Epilepsy Society.
