Valeria “Michelle” Hammond

Valeria “Michelle” Hammond, 42, died Oct. 18, 2012, at her home in Palmer.

A private celebration of life in memory of Michelle is at the Hammond Family Home. Michelle’s ashes will be scattered in Alaska and Idaho.

Michelle was born Sept. 10, 1970, in Nampa, Idaho, to Robert Lee Robinson and Florence Valeria Robinson (Carroll). She became an Alaska resident in 2007 when she moved to the Butte. Michelle worked at Continental Motors in Anchorage from 2007 to 2012. She enjoyed backpacking, horseback riding and snowmobiling.

The family wrote, “Michelle was a devoted, wonderful mother, grandmother and wife. She was a keenly intelligent and energetic employee and a devoted daughter. She was also a second mom to 17 of her daughters close friends. She will be greatly missed.”

Michelle is survived by her husband, Shane Hammond of Palmer; daughters, Ashley Janssen and Andrea Bennett of Palmer; parents, Bob and Valeria Robinson of American Falls, Idaho; granddaughter, Zoey Janssen of Palmer; and sister, Becky Robinson of American Falls, Idaho.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Sam and Inez Carroll.
