Victoria Anne Cole

Victoria Anne Cole, known to most as Vickie, passed away Sunday, October 10th, 2021 at the age of 79. She was an amazing woman who led an adventurous and full life.

Finding herself in Fairbanks in 1968, Vickie quickly fell in love with Alaska’s harsh weather and breathtaking beauty. She was able to purchase 40 acres from homesteaders in the Mat-Su Valley and decided to make it her home, living in the house she built until her passing.

Vickie was known by many through her ties in various artforms and teaching. She worked for the Mat-Su College for many years, developing the weaving department and teaching the rise of civilization. Whether it be weaving, jewelry making, painting, clay work or sculpting, anthropology or archeology, she was always willing to pass on her wealth of knowledge and truly enjoyed watching people grow and learn.

Vickie is survived by her son, David McKenzie-Cole, his wife, Mara and their two daughters, Alia and Tayla; brothers, Walt and Dick Cole; sisters in laws Dianne and Valerie; nephews, Steve, Ben, David and nieces, Amy and Christine; as well as many grand nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held November 1, 2021, at Band of Brothers in Wasilla from 6:00pm — 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to an art foundation or charity in Vickie’s memory.
