Virginia Corine Bombardier, 96, died Sept. 20, 2012, at the Harbor View Manor in Wasilla from natural causes.
Virginia was born on June 1, 1916, to Frederick and Margret Bombardier in Grand Rapids, Minn. She worked as a waitress and a part-time model until she retired sometime around 1985.
She lived in Washington state for more than 30 years. She loved her independence, long walks, dancing and her little dog for companionship. Virginia moved to Wasilla to be near family for her final days in May 2012. The family and some staff members from the nursing home were able to witness to Virginia about her salvation. Virginia accepted Christ and called upon him to take her home; no greater gift than this for her and her family. The family expressed thanks for your prayers.
Surviving are her sister, Eunice E. Hinkle, 94, of Wasilla; daughter-in-law, Mary R. Bower of Anchorage; granddaughter, Georgia R. Purdue of Anchorage; grandson, Scott J. Bower of Wasilla; six great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members in Washington state.
Preceding her in death was her only child, Duane F. Bower, who died April 19, 1990, from lung cancer.
The family would like to send out a special thank you to the staff of Harbor View Manner in Wasilla, and Grays Harbor of Aberdeen, Wash.
Arrangements were by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory. A guestbook is online at alaskanfuneral.com.
