Virginia Victors, 12, passed gently in her sleep at 4 a.m., Jan. 3 at her home in Big Lake with her family at her side. Born on July 15, 1997, in Palmer, she filled her family with love.
Virginia was a wonderful girl with a pure heart. She endured a full two-year battle with a very rare cancer. She never complained. Her care and concern for others around her was an example for all who knew her. We were honored to have her as a part of our family. We celebrate the end of her long journey and the attainment of a new body free of pain and cancer.
Virginia had a love of horses, campfires and fishing. She was an outgoing girl with a cheerful disposition who brightened any room she entered. The rare combination of innocence and maturity was a gift to us all. Though she has left us for a short while, we are at ease knowing that we will be reunited with her for time and all eternity. She leaves behind a loving brother Jesse, parents Steve and Donna Victors, and her pony Captain’s Blessing.
A cremation and private family ceremonies will be held in early January. Her ashes will be carried to places she loved the best. A Virginia Victors Memorial Cancer Fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Virginia Victors Memorial Account No. 8557157545, Wells Fargo Bank, 581 W. Parks Hwy, Wasilla, AK, 99654.
