Vivian Jean Tomlinson, 57, of Wasilla died of advanced lung cancer Dec. 21, 2013.
She was born in Flint, Mich., on June 22, 1956, to the late James and Geraldine Craig. Vivian moved to Anchorage in 1963 at the age of 7, where her and her family endured the 1964 earthquake. As a teenager, she married William Kiernan and had three children. Later she divorced and remarried Timothy Tomlinson who she shared 29 years with and had three more children. They moved to Wasilla in 2002. Many have said “when she was made they broke the mold. She was truly one of a kind! To know her was definitely to love her!”
She worked for an emergency answering service for five years; owned and managed a tow company for 10 years; operated and managed Quality Tune automotive for six years; and for 10 years was an administrative assistant to two directors, one of which was also a project manager for the Hilton Anchorage Hotel.
Vivian was always very outgoing, worked hard and played harder. She had a green thumb, loved to four-wheel, snowmachine and camp. Loved to crochet, cook for an army, play board and card games. She was a fighter, stubborn, very loving, caring and would give to anyone in need. She may be physically gone but her spirit will live on with Jesus and she will never be forgotten or replaced!
Surviving are her husband, Tim; daughters, Angela, Christine and Sabrina; sons, Brandon and Craig; sisters, Tammy and Dawn; brothers, Jim and Earl; six grandchildren; and aunts uncles in Port Huron, Mich.; a close mother-in-law in Illinois and numerous in-laws all over. “She will be loved always and forever,” her family wrote.
Visitation is at 3:15 p.m., Jan. 3 at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
To help with costs, the family requests donations be made in Vivian’s name to: Sabrina Jean Tomlinson, 415 E. Shadow Cr, Wasilla, AK 99654
