Vonita Clabaugh

Vonita Clabaugh, 88, passed peacefully in her sleep at her home in Wasilla, Alaska, July 17, 2024. Born in 1936 in Del Rio, Tennessee to Steven Eli Shelton and Cynthia Ellen (Nee Rains) Shelton, Vonita Maize Shelton was the seventh child among their eleven children: Bud, Evelyn, Marie, Helen, Dorcus, Ruth, Jodie, Stephen, Daniel, and Brenda. She grew up in Elmer, New Jersey and graduated from Woodstown High School. When nineteen, Vonita married Charles Albina and they had two children, Susan and Chuck. “Von”, also known as “Evonne” or “Vonnie” was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was a beautiful, kind-hearted and sensitive soul and a truly beautiful woman, very creative and artistic, who loved her family and loved God with all her heart. With her husband Charles she lived in Michigan, Florida, Washington, and Anchorage, Alaska. Vonita later moved to California where she remarried and lived in North Hollywood, Sherman Oaks, Upland, Palmdale, and Sun City. Over the years she worked hard at many jobs: waitressing, hairdressing, managing apartment bldgs.., owning her own Beauty Salon, and managing several health-food stores. Vonita loved helping others, her friends and customers; all who were blessed to know her. Following the death of her husband Kenneth, Vonita moved back to Alaska to live with her daughter and granddaughter. Vonita loved reading, music, drawing, swimming and walks along the beach. Forever cherished, loved and much missed by her family, Vonita was preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Cynthia Shelton, husbands, Charles Albina, Murray Parsons, and Kenneth Clabaugh, and siblings Bud, Evelyn, Marie, Helen, “Dot,” Ruth, Jodie and Daniel, and is survived by her daughter Susan Albina, son Charles Albina, daughter-in-law, Caroline Albina, grandchildren, Breanna, Travis, Jessica and Hanna Albina, sister Brenda Shelton Clouse, and brother Stephen Shelton. Journey in Peace precious-one.
