Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wallace West Nelson, 66, of Wasilla passed away on July 1, 2014, after a three-year battle with cancer.
The funeral service is at 1 p.m., July 7 at Word of Faith Assembly in Wasilla. Pastor Steve Alexander will officiate. Burial will follow the funeral at Valley Memorial Park.
Wallace was born in Spokane, Washington, on Jan. 15, 1948. He graduated from Ronan High School in Ronan, Montana and studied business after high school. He moved to Alaska in 1972 and lived here for 42 years.
Wallace was married to Louise on February 14th, 1974; they were married for 40 years.
Wallace worked for State Farm Insurance, retiring as a Property Claims Trainer after 26 years. His greatest love was spending time with his wife, children and grand-children. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching football and baseball. He was also actively involved in his local church and his Christian men’s fellowship, the Promise Keepers.
Surviving are his wife, Louise Nelson; sisters, Nita Young, Joan Holt, and Penni Sjodin; children, West Glenn, Zeneth Glenn, Travis Glenn, Amber Anderson, Tacia Nelson, Wade Nelson, Clint Nelson and Shane Nelson; 26 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Promise Keepers International at PromiseKeepers.org/donate.
Funeral arrangements were made with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory.
