Walter moved to Alaska in the early 1970s, coming up from Portland, Ore. He found employment in the world of mining and working as a construction engineer. Throughout his life, Walter maintained a positive outlook and helped others who were dealing with amputation and diabetes. He believed in the good in people and helped those in trouble. Walter said, “ Don’t mourn my death, celebrate my life.“ In keeping with his wishes, a celebration of Walter’s life will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Eklutna Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations my be made to the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska, 9711 Kenai Spur Hwy., Kenai, AK 99611. The world will be a poorer place without him. He believed the only way the human race would survive would be to get some of this rock to other places, the moon, mars, out there; that’s why the donations are to the space camp.
