Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wayne Busbey, age 51, of Palmer passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, after a long battle with muscular dystrophy. Wayne was born on March 5, 1966, in Palmer.
He attended Palmer schools growing up and graduated in 1984. Wayne will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, love of the Pittsburgh Steelers and fishing, and his determination to keep living. He was especially excited about his first grandson who was born last October. He will be greatly missed.
Wayne is survived by his son Michael, daughter-in-law Jen and grandson, Harley; mother, Ardeth Busbey, brother, Dale Busbey; brother Lyle Busbey and wife Cathy, sister, Wanda (Busbey) Haken and husband, Milt, nephews Walker, Byron, and Trevor Haken, and nieces Aleah and Abrianna Busbey and many other relatives and friends. He is currently reunited in heaven with his dad, Harley Busbey, who passed away in 1974.
The family will be hosting a memorial service for Wayne on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Lazy Mountain Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship account is being set up for his grandson. A donation can be made at any Wells Fargo bank to his grandson, Harley Wayne Busbey.
