Wayne Mears

Wayne Mears, age 80 passed away in his home on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon Mears of Palmer, his son Troy Mears of Brentwood California, daughter, Tracy Mears of Anchorage as well as his sister and brother in-law Marra and Tim Stookey of Sandusky Ohio. He also enjoyed his grandchildren, Brandon Hamilton, Phil & Emily Parmenter and Aaron Parmenter. He was beloved by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family. He is preceded in death by his father, Fred Mears of Sandusky Ohio, his mother, Verna Rinker of Sandusky Ohio, and his sister, Beverly Dahlke of Plant City Florida. Wayne served his country with honor in the US Air Force for twenty years and was a law enforcement officer in Northern California for 15 years. Everyone who knew him was aware of his deep devotion to his family, his friends and his love for animals. He thoroughly enjoyed golf and bowling and was an avid Ham Radio Operator. He also enjoyed many outdoor activities such as fishing. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla, cared for arrangements.
