Wendy Divis

Wendy Divis

Wendy Divis died in her home in Wasilla on Sept. 4, 2008, in the caring presence of family. A celebration of life took place on Saturday, Sept. 6, at her home.

Divis was born in Maine in 1957 and moved to Alaska in 1981. She owned and operated an import clothing store, Aurora Boutique, for 13 years and was given Wasilla’s Small Business Person of the Year award in 2005.

She was a strong believer in the value of community and in the value of hard work. A woman of profound graces, she had the ability to warm any room she entered. According to her family, her sheer determination and preference to avoid an ordinary lifestyle in exchange for a more colorful one inspired everyone who came in contact with her.

She enjoyed reading, hiking and skiing, traveling in various parts of the world, designing clothes, motor-homing when possible and could do unbelievable things in the kitchen, her family wrote.

Divis is survived by her husband, Mike, of Wasilla; sons Josh and Zach Bennet; stepson Jordan; and stepdaughter DeMia Luckinbill; granddaughter Kylie; mother Muriel Bolduc; sister Kathy (Todd) Farrin; nieces Paige and Sydney, and a close dear friend, Mark Szabat.

“Wendy will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends,” her family wrote.

Arrangements entrusted to Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary.
