Wendy Sue Heikes (Cole) passed into a place of rest on June 10, 2023. She was born in Los Angeles, California July 8, 1957 to Charlene Walker and Joseph Frederick Cole. Wendy died at home, her place of sanctuary, peace and quiet in Palmer, Alaska.
Wendy was preceded in death by her daughter Krystal, of only two days. She leaves behind her husband Roger of 26 years; three step grand-daughters and seven step great-grandchildren.
After bouncing around California, Nevada, and Oregon while growing up, she came to Alaska in 1983. From the moment of landing, Alaska was to be her forever home. She loved the winters although she seldom went beyond the warm side of the glass. She could enjoy the beauty of snow without actually being in it, as she would say.
Wendy was admired by those that came to know her. She never disliked anyone she met and they knew that they were not held in judgement. She could find the good in everyone.
At her request, there would be no funeral service. Her ashes were placed into the ocean in Seward, Alaska as was her wish.
