Weslene (Clark) Goodman

Weslene (Clark) Goodman died July 4, 2011, with her husband by her side. She fought a courageous battle with cancer and chose to be home during her final days.

Weslene graduated in 1959 from Au Sable Forks High School in New York. She worked at Gateway Restaurant from 1958 to 1961 and as a telephone operator for Au Sable Telephone Co.

Weslene married in 1960 and moved to Arizona from 1963 to 1965. She returned to the North Country in 1967. After divorcing in 1978, she moved to Alaska where she met James Goodman. They were married in 1981 and owned and operated Western Auto and Ace Hardware franchises until retiring to Las Vegas in 2005.

Surviving are her soul mate, Jim Goodman of Las Vegas; sister, Anne Jaynes of Las Vegas; brother, Barry Clark of Au Sable Forks, N.Y.; sons, Paul Elmore of Poquoson, Va., and Ron Elmore of Palmer; grandchildren, Patrick Hinson, Rashad Hinson and Cindy Sullivan, all of Palmer, and Jeremy Elmore and Brittany Elmore of Virginia Beach, Va.

Weslene had a huge circle of friends from around the globe. Sue Allen was a very special friend among them. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and cherished their hugs and kisses.

Weslene and her family thank the staffs of St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus and Odyssey Hospice Service for their tender care and compassion during her fight with leukemia.

A private service will be conducted at a later time. Donations may be made in Weslene’s memory to the American Leukemia Society.
