Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Big Lake resident, William “Bill” Pederson, 64, died June 19 of pneumonia at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer surrounded by his family. He was born June 25, 1944 in Lemmon, S.D. to Pete and Evelyn Pederson.
There will be a Celebration of Life today at 3 p.m. at Church on the Rock, 3571 W. Machen Drive, in Wasilla with Pastor David Pepper officiating.
Bill came to Alaska in 1965 and lived in Anchorage until 1995 when he and his family moved to Big Lake.
He served in the Air Force from 1965 to1968 and worked with the municipality of Anchorage from 1965 to 1995.
Bill enjoyed basketball, classic country music, building projects, spending time with his family and riding his 6-wheeler with his wife.
His family said, “Bill touched many lives. He was a hard-working man, dedicated to his wife and family. He loved the Lord and ministered to many people. He was a great father and loving grandfather to his 12 grandchildren.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Pete Pederson and mother, Evelyn Pederson.
Bill is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Pederson; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Eric Dayton, Stephanie and Roger Tischner, Bonnie and Chad Duguid and Debbie and Tyson Lueck; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and sister, Irene Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Nancy Pederson, P.O. Box 521706, Big Lake, AK 99652 to assist with medical expenses.
