William Floyd Kennedy, Jr. "Mr. Bill"

William Floyd Kennedy, Jr. "Mr. Bill", passed away on April 5, 2025, in Palmer, Alaska, at the age of 81. Born on March 6, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, William led a life marked by service, adventure, and deep devotion to family. From a young age, William demonstrated a strong sense of duty and commitment. In 1964, he began a distinguished military career with the United States Army that would span 25 years. Rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class before retiring in 1989, William served his country with honor and dedication. Among his many assignments, being stationed in Thailand stood out as a particularly memorable chapter in his service. After retiring from the Army, William settled in Palmer, Alaska a place he would come to call home for the rest of his life. Never one to remain idle for long, he continued serving the community by becoming a school bus driver. His presence behind the wheel became a familiar and comforting sight for many local families. Outside of work and service, William was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and fishing across Alaska's vast wilderness. Of all the places they explored, Hope, Alaska held a special place in his heart as a favorite fishing destination. William's life was deeply enriched by family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Katherine; siblings Tommy (Elaine) and Lorraine (Ron); children Vicki (Del), Billy, Thomas, Joey, Jenny, Eddie; his granddaughter, Rayvn along with twelve additional grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. His memory is also cherished by those who knew him through friendship and community ties. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Mamie Kennedy and his brother John Kennedy. A Celebration of Life will be held on May 10, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at American Legion Post 15 located at 1550 Mystic Circle in Palmer, Alaska. Which he was a long-standing member of. William Floyd Kennedy Jr. "Mr. Bill" 's legacy lives on through the lives he touched with steadfast service to country and community and a love for Alaska's wild beauty that never waned. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
