After graduating from Ursinus College, Bill drove to Alaska for an adventure in 1957. When he arrived in Palmer, he worked at Matanuska Valley Bank where a co-worker introduced him to a local teacher, June Roripaugh. They wed in 1960 and homesteaded in the Meadow Lakes area. They moved to Albuquerque while he attended law school and graduated just in time to return to AK as an attorney and work at the Alaska State Housing Authority after the '64 earthquake. In 1971 Bill and his family moved to Palmer where he became very active in the community. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce, Elks, Moose and was master of ceremonies of Palmer parades for decades.
Bill started clarinet in middle school and played in multiple bands throughout his life. Music was one of his great loves. One of his favorite gigs was playing Dixieland in the Sluicebox at the Alaska State Fair with the Statutory Grapes. His gigs included Hallea Lodge, Williwaw Lodge, political galas and hotel ballrooms.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, June Roripaugh Tull. He is survived by his three children and eight grandchildren.
