Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

William H. Moreland Sr., 87, died on July 29, 2008 at Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
Moreland Sr. served in World War II on the U.S.S. Iowa battleship in the southern Pacific, followed by 34 years of civil service.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine Moreland, of Wasilla; daughter and son-in-law Sandi and Wayne Sturm of Wasilla; son and daughter-in-law John D. and Barbara Moreland of Woodstock, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law William H. Jr. and Shellie Moreland of Salt Lake City, Utah; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A private memorial will be held at Sunshine Manor Assisted Living Facility, where he lived and made friends over the past year and a half.
