Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Beloved father, son and brother William J. Thomas, 39, died Sept. 15, 2012.
He was born April 8, 1973, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Eugene M. Thomas and Patricia M. Tipton.
William came to Alaska in 1987, and built a life full of family and friends. He was a great man and wore his heart on his sleeve. He loved his kids, family and friends with all of his heart and will be missed by many.
Surviving are his two kids, Cynthia and Alex Thomas of Vermont; father, Eugene M. Thomas and step-mother Sandra Thomas; mother, Patricia M. Tipton; sister, Bea Justen and husband Ted Justen of Palmer; brother, Jack L. Thomas and wife, Pam Thomas of Vermont; sister, Ann Brown of Riverton, Utah; sister, Heidi Brinson and husband Billy Brinson of Anchorage; sister, Cynthia Thomas of Riverton Utah; brother, Joshua Thomas and wife Stephanie Thomas of Riverton, Utah; sister, Jennifer Thomas-Christopherson and husband Brian Christopherson of Riverton, Utah; ex-wife, Lisa Thomas; and his longtime girlfriend, Nancy Murphy and her kids.
Surviving are several nephews and nieces; his dear and best friend, Steve Meyer of Palmer; and all of his extended family and friends.
William was preceded in death by his step-father, Larry L. Tipton; and his longtime friend and ex-wife Jessica Skelton-Thomas; great-grandparents Jack and Mable VanHook; grandmother, Revia VanHook; and grandparents, Leon and Ethel Thomas.
Arrangements were made by Kehl’s Palmer Legacy Funeral Home, 209 S. Alaska St., Palmer.
A celebration of life is at 3 p.m., Sept. 21 at Kehl’s Palmer Legacy Funeral Home.
