Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Long-term Wasilla resident William James Sands, aka Bill, 68, passed away July 26, 2018, while staying at Mat-Su Regional Hospital, Alaska.
A service will be held at the Mat-Su Borough Gym 350 E. Dahlia Ave., Palmer, AK 99645 at 1:00 pm on August 4th.
Bill was born May 25, 1950, in St Ignatius, MT, to William Daniel and Lois Sands. He married Marion Shong on May 20, 1974.
He came to Alaska in 1969 where he worked on the North Slope for close to 50 years for various companies most recently Kaktovik Environment, LLC.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, visiting with friends and family, traveling and most of all spending time with the Lord.
“Bill. You are not only a friend, you are a brother and a Dad with a big and gentle loving heart. We miss your hugs – always full of love, protection, and comfort. You’re always filled with knowledge, wisdom, and guidance. You are the most giving, loving and patient man we have ever known. We admire how you keep the royal law and love the Lord, others, and lastly yourself. You are extremely missed and we thank our heavenly Father for every minute we’ve spent with you. We are looking forward to the moment when we will be together again. We Love You, Bill!”
He is married to his wife Marion and survived by his son Will and those who loved him.
