WILLIAM LEE MUNSON

William Lee Munson, 48, of Willow, died June 10, 2010, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer. He had suffered from a long-term illness.

His cremated remains will be scattered by family and close friends at a private gathering in the Hatcher Pass area. No formal services will be held.

Mr. Munson was born June 21, 1961, in Redding, Calif. He came to Alaska in March 1969. He was a high school graduate and his two favorite hobbies were fishing and assembling car models.

“During the 1970s, Bill, with brother Michael and sister Patty, were members of the Anchorage Power Boat Racing Association,” the family wrote. “Bill raced in two different classes. One class was C-Stock, and the other was Yamato Class. The races were held on many of Alaska’s lakes. He was well liked and loved by family and friends and will be dearly missed.”

Survivors are his mother, Carol Hill of Wasilla; sister, Patricia Partach of Shelley, Idaho; brother, Michael Munson of Anchorage; father, Emil Munson of Fresno, Calif.; stepbrother, Kenney Hill of Anchorage; stepsister, Lorri Hill of Las Vegas; stepbrother and wife, Mark and Robin Hill of Wasilla, and uncle, Rocky Munson of Fresno.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Spencer Hill; maternal grandparents, Malcolm and Muriel Acord; uncle, Lyle Acord, and paternal grandparents, Shorty and Pearl Munson.

Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory of Wasilla.
