Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

William Michael Stanton (Mike), passed away on February 9, 2023, at the age of 77. The son of one of the famous "Flying Stantons," Mike served in Vietnam as a pilot for the US Army and spent many years as a commercial crop-dusting pilot. He taught skiing with Challenge Alaska and was an avid bird lover and a founder of Alaska Parrot Behavioral and Nutritional Research Consultants. Mike also received two degrees focused on psychology. He was a dedicated member of his church and cared about helping people. Mike is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Johnston; his grandchildren, Ben and Mia Johnston; and his half-siblings, Jeffery, Jody and Rudd. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Smith Stanton and his parents, Ira and Betty. A celebration of life will be held on a future date.
