Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

William Rooks Allen, Sr. (Bill), age 93, passed away April 21, 2023. William was born August 7, 1929, in Waterton, Colorado, to William and Dorothy Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Mary Heberlien (Phillip) and Marjorie Heberlien (Paul); Grand-daughter Kelly Murphy; and Grandson Spencer Shipley.
William is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn (Files) Allen; daughters Cynthia Schwermer (Gary); Connie Shipley (John); sons William R Allen, Jr. (Billie); and Michael Allen (Charlotte); Grandchildren, William Robert Allen (Heather); Zachariah Allen; Chase Shipley; Stacey Johnson (Cody); Kristy Feeler; Kiley Lange (Daryl); Kacy White (Macon); 16 Great-grandchildren; one Great-great grandson; sister-in-law, Janice Mangrum; numerous nephews and nieces; and many friends.
William served in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was a Valley Church of Christ member in Wasilla, Alaska. William was a police officer and worked as a manager/owner for several manufacturing facilities. He retired to ranching in Oklahoma and then enjoyed the last 22-plus years living in Alaska.
