Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

William Spencer Robinson, 57, a longtime Alaska resident, died at home on Feb. 26, 2013.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m., March 15 at Valley Funeral Home, 151 E. Herning Ave., Wasilla. Pastor Brad Rogers of West Valley Family Nazarene Church will officiate. There will also be a gathering for family and friends at West Valley Family Church of the Nazarene, on the corner of Ridgecrest Road and the George Parks Highway, immediately following the services at the funeral home.
Spencer was born March 22, 1955, in Oakland, Calif., the son of Samuel and Margaret Robinson. He was raised in Ketchikan and Lynden, Wash. He was a welder by trade, working in Seward, Fairbanks,and Red Dog Mine. Prior to becoming disabled due to a back injury, Spencer was an avid runner and could run a five-minute mile at this peak. He loved fishing and being in the outdoors. He was also a good cook and loved talking to people. He was very politically oriented and very intelligent. Spencer was good at fixing things. He was very proud of his Irish heritage and had many distant relatives in Ireland. Spencer was extremely close to his sister, Jennifer, and a brother, David, whom he loved dearly. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Nicole Robinson; son, William Robinson; parents, Samuel and Margaret Robinson; sisters, Jennifer Reed and Debbie Robinson; brothers, Kenny and David Robinson; and nieces and nephews, Jason, Johnathon, Jessica, Mandi, Kenzie and Stephanie.
