Wilson (Willie) Mattheyer Byrd, 29, died Dec. 23, 2012 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m., Dec. 28 at Crosier-Pearson Cleburne Funeral Home, 512 North Ridgeway Rd., Cleburne, Texas. Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m., Dec. 29 at Crosier-Pearson and burial follows at Greenwood Cemetery, Fort Worth, Texas.

Will was born Aug. 11, 1983, in Palmer to Billy and Lou Ann Byrd. His passion was basketball. He began playing at age 13 with the Valley Crusaders Christian Home School basketball team and continued until his senior year, when he led his team to the National Christian Home School Basketball Championship. Will was a 2001 graduate of Galena City High School (homeschool program).

Will also loved fishing, camping, sports and gold mining. He moved to Fort Worth, Texas, in August 2006, where he began his career as a wire line operator. On May 14, 2011, Will married his soul mate, Heather.

Surviving are his wife, Heather and two sons, Austin and Tyler; parents, Billy and Lou Ann Byrd; grandparents, Kenneth and Betty Mattheyer of Marshall, Texas, and Patricia Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Jessica and husband Allan Aspera; brother, Billy Jack III and wife Amanda of Fort Worth; brother, James Andrew of Marshall, Texas; two nephews and three nieces.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Will Byrd Memorial at Wells Fargo Bank, Wells Fargo account No. 5791246530.
