Windell Louise Kuehn, 73, died Jan. 15, 2013, at her home in Wasilla.

A visitation is at Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel at 1015 S. Check St., Wasilla, from 5 to 6 p.m., Jan. 21, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 6 p.m.

Louise was born March 23, 1939, in Puckett, Miss. She later became an Alaska resident in 1972, lived in Ketchikan from 1966 to 1969 and 1973 to 1981, Anchorage from 1981 to 1989, and then Wasilla from 1989 to present. She worked at the Wasilla Visitors Center from 1998 to 2012, and Alaska Federal Credit Union in Anchorage from 1981 to 1989. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Sacred Heart Church. She also served as department president for the women’s auxiliary of the American Legion, Alaska.

Louise was an avid reader, liked to sew, crochet, and was a skilled craftsman in the art of silver jewelry making.

Surviving are her husband, Gary John Kuehn of Wasilla; children, John Kuehn and daughter-in-law Yvonne of Palmer, Brian Douglas Kuehn of Wasilla, Casandra Jean Sheyman and son-in-law Vitaly of New Jersey; mother, Aline Mize of Shreveport, La.; brothers, John Wayne Mize of Hope, Texas, and Danny Mize of Dallas, Texas; sister, Alice Lucido of Hope, Texas; and grandchildren, Hayden and Madison Kuehn of Palmer, and Samuel Douglas Sheyman of New Jersey.

“Louise was worth far more than rubies. She was the most selfless mother and wife possible and always put her family before herself,” her family wrote. “She taught us all to want to be better people and we hope that we can grow to be as amazing as she was.”

Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel and Crematory.
