Winona “Beep” Amiiyuq Elizabeth Karmun, 54, died Feb. 10, 2012, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services in honor of Winona are at 11 a.m., Feb. 17 at Church on the Rock, 3571 W. Machen Rd., Wasilla. Pastor Roberta Thomas will officiate. A potluck and celebration of life is scheduled at the church following Beep’s burial at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.

Beep was born March 7, 1957, in Kotzebue and grew up in Deering before moving to Wasilla. She worked at NANA Management Services.

“Beep was a kind and caring person. She was always there for her family and friends,” her family wrote. “She would do anything to make others happy and feel at home and didn’t ask for anything in return. She made an impact on all of us who were lucky to be part of her life. We will miss our daughter and sister dearly, but she is with God now and she is no longer suffering.”

Preceding her in death was her sister, Joyce; brother, Harry Jr.; grandparents, Alfred and Mamie Karmun, and Fletcher and Lila Gregg; uncles, Gilbert Karmun, Frank Scott, Howard Gregg, Walter Gregg Sr. and Doug Sheldon Sr.; aunts, Marilyn Karmun, Mary Scott, Atting Winona Carter, Rachel Truit and Rachel Scott; and nephews, Antwon Karmun and Adrian Spindler.

Surviving are her parents, Harry and Alice Karmun. Since she was the eldest, she helped raise her siblings and her sister Sandra’s children, who are daughters, Joyce and Mija and son-in-law Chris Lugo; brothers, Alfred II, Harry Jr. and wife Cynthia, and Jack; sisters, Mamie, Maxine and husband Connell Barr, Peggy and husband Thomas Spindler, Sandra and husband Dickie Moto; many nieces and nephews, including Allie Pearl and William, William II, Dickie Joe, Herbie, Gilford, Dean, Connie Peggy, Ookak, Alfred, Harry III, Arthur, Stacie, Traci, Jack Jr., Agatha, Thomas, Emily, Augustina and Mario, Maymie, Ariel and baby Adriann and Quincy Perry. Beep considered as sisters her cousins, Lila Moto and twin Grace Hadley; best friends, Roberta Thomas, Sharon Nayokpuk, Ruth Ann Moto, Jamella Swanson, June and many more too numerous to name; great uncles, Dan and Ethel Karmun, Wilbur Karmun and Ben Gregg; great aunt, Ada Ward; aunts, Sally Johnson, Penny and Pierre Boutet, Amelia Hughes, Tessi Sheldon, Beulah and Percy Ipalook, Lillian Gregg and Katherine Gregg; and uncles, Martin Karmun, Stan Andersen, Jimmy and Agnes Gregg, Fletcher and Thelma Gregg.
