Winston Henry Darkow

Winston Henry Darkow, 81, died Feb. 21, 2010, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer of a heart attack. A wake is being planned for June 2010.

Winston was born on Sept. 9, 1928, in Fergus Falls, Minn. He became an Alaska resident in August 1966 and resided in Wasilla.

Winston was an entrepreneur from an early age and loved every job he ever had. Winston had a life-long love of hunting, fishing, flying, the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins, his wife Barbara and wine.

His family wrote, “The family would like to extend our sincere thank you and heartfelt appreciation to the Central Mat-Su Fire Department and Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for their exceptional care and services.”

Winston is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara; son Adrian, daughter and son-in-law, Jeanne and Jerry South; grandchildren, Ryan South and his wife Jessica, Christopher and Rebecca South; sisters, Mary Wayne Dahl and Ann Louise Olmstead.

Arrangements were with Legacy Funeral Homes & Cremation Services — Kehl’s Palmer Chapel.
